Jane Pitt

Research Nurse, City and Guilds Co-ordinator.

Jane’s Qualifications are:-

State Enrolled Nurse General Nursing 1976
Registered General Nursing 1997
ENB 346 [English National Board 346 Ophthalmology Nursing]
ENB 998 [English National Board 998 Teaching and Assessing]

I have now stepped down from running the Retinal Screening courses to follow a more nursing focused role. Keeping the Ophthalmology specialist side of my role I am working alongside Professor Gibson on Research studies looking at Lucentis v. Avastin for wet ARMD. We are also looking at improving ophthalmic research links within the BBC area for the CLRN [Comprehensive Local Research Network]. This is a part-time role.

The other half of my time remains as co-ordinator for City and Guilds for BBC area, and a new project to introduce a slicker method of keeping ophthalmic clinical visit input for medical notes in Diabetic Retinopathy clinics within HEFT Trust. This is introducing OMR Optical Scanning which nurses and medics complete patient personalised input data sheets with clinical visit information. The scanning system allows clinical letters to be primed from information and enables audit information to be available at ‘the push of a button' as such.
